Currently, prices of original units (often heavily exploited) are very high, therefore appear the resumption of this compressor, in version of hardware or software. The vast most of iconic recordings in the American music industry, starting from the 70's year, was recorded using these compressors. These compressors, because of the distinctive nature of compression, effectiveness and exceptional ease of use, are still appreciated by many engineers around the world and can be found in most studios recording where are still successfully used.
#PROREPLICAS BLUE STRIPE PRO#
This comp gives the user outstanding level control with just the right amount of tone/color that adds something special to the sound. The following was taken from the Pro Replicas website:The UREI 1176 is a classic audio compressor designed by Bill Putnam and first built in 1967. This time-tested FET gain reduction compressor design is a classic. SOUNDS OUTSTANDING!! TRACKING ROCK VOCALS iS A BREEZE WITH THIS THING!USE IT IN THE MIX ON ALMOST ANYTHING!! Great for recording too! ALL BUTTONS MODE TOO!This piece has ALL THE 1176 REV A TONE without any of the potential vintage hang-ups and it is build that will last a while. The originals go for big $$$ because (they are becoming more rare and.) there is something special about the 1176 REVA circuit for recording and mixing engineers. As mentioned earlier, I have another of these units (bought directly from RD at ProReplicas) and the item up for auction is exactly as his was and they sound like a near dead-on match! After the modification, and a few months of use in the rack - I have found that a pair of 1176 REV A is not really needed in my current workflow - I only need one, so the other one is up for auction.ONLY ONE (1) 1176 COMPRESSOR IS FOR SALE IN THIS AUCTIONNo other piece of equipment seen in any of the pictures is included in this auction. This is a really nice 1176 compressor for the $$$. When I compared the two transformers I found that the stock transformer didn't sound like the vintage UTC o-12 I had heard and LOVED! So I made the swap - I personally added the vintage UTC o-1 2 input transformer for taste and matching purposes. I already owned another ProReplica 1176 Rev A Blue Stripe with NOS UTC transformer and really loved the way it sounded.

Distortion reading and frequency response is exactly as it should be.I have slightly modified it.Upon arrival, I listened to this 1176 with the stock transformer and the vintage UTC o-12 input transformer (the original transformer found in vintage 1176 REVAs) that I bought for this purpose. I have never had any issue with the device. Low hours of usage. This item is in very good cosmetic condition with nothing outstanding to note. It also has a black lid/top that is not on in the pictures.SEARCH THE GEAR FORUMS FOR THE VERDICT ON THIS GREAT 1176 REPLICA: Pro ReplicasI know the starting bid seems a little high for just another 1176 rev A blue stripe clone, but I believe the price reflects its value.ONLY ONE (1) 1176 COMPRESSOR IS FOR SALE IN THIS AUCTIONNo other piece of equipment seen in any of the pictures is included in this auction.Used, never abused.
